Name: Riese Lathram
Alias: The Shadow Witch
Age: 107, but she appears to be in her mid-20’s.
Race: Elf(Nyria)
Physical Appearance:
Personality: Riese prides herself in being a lady of class, and she carries herself with grace and refinement. Her true emotions are almost always masked behind a calm face. Just because she is sad, angry, or afraid doesn’t necessarily mean she feels the need to share it with the world.
Riese’s tone of voice is a formal one on most occasions, and she has a bit of a sarcastic sense of humor. Unless it’s wine, alcohol doesn’t appeal to her; tea tastes much better, and it doesn’t cloud the senses. Riese doesn’t enjoy talking about herself. She also has a soft spot for children.

Powers/Abilities:
Equipment:
Gold: 800
Weaknesses:
Background: Riese is the bastard child of an Elven nobleman, Castien Matanil, and one of his maids, Talaia Lathram. Castien was in love with Talaia even though he was engaged to another woman as part of an arranged marriage. That didn’t dtop him from meeting Talaia in secret. Since his reputation was at stake, the nobleman sent the maid away from the estate and to a far away city during her pregnancy. This was so nobody learned of the little tryst he had had with a lowly servant, as well as for Talaia’s own protection.
Talaia eventually gave birth to a baby girl and named her Riese. She raised Riese to the best of her ability. Not once did she ever hear from Castien again after she was sent away from the estate. However, her feelings for him never diminished. She would always tell Riese stories about him, and never once badmouthed him.
All good things must eventually come to an end. Talaia grew ill, forcing Riese to do nothing but watch as her mother grew weaker as the days passed. It didn’t take long for the mother to pass away. There was nothing Riese could do about it.
Her grief over her mother’s death soon turned to anger. That anger was focused on only one person, her father. If Castien and Talaia had loved each other so much, why hadn’t Castien been around in Talaia’s time of need? Was her father’s reputation so important that he chose to forget about his love and his child?! Could such a man truly be her father? Riese had never even met him. All she had to go by were her mother’s stories and a portrait he had given her when she had been sent away. Either way, she had no desire to be related to such a man.
Riese decided to devote herself to the study of magic, focusing mainly on potions and herbology. She opened up a little shop in the Bastion of Shaohad. In her shop she mainly deals with potions and creating small enchantments on items at the request of her customers. Nothing too big. Are you looking for an enchanted necklace that changes the pitch of your voice? Do you want a potion that temporarily changes your skin, eye, or hair color? Maybe you’ve simply been searching for a special charm to ward vermin from your home. The Shadow Witch is here for you.
Riese’s wares are mostly just novelty items. She is capable of much higher magic, but she’s not too keen on selling such services to anyone. Managing the shop keeps food on the table while allowing her to continue her studies at the same time. Riese wouldn’t mind leaving her little store. She simply lacks a good reason to do so.
